How to use it
Skills are packaged instructions Claude can load when relevant. The text below is the contents of a SKILL.md file. Follow Anthropic's current instructions for creating or uploading a skill. This one is instructions only: it contains no scripts, so there is nothing to execute. If a skill you find elsewhere includes scripts or asks for broad permissions, don't install it until you've reviewed every file.
--- name: plain-english-editor description: Rewrites text in clear, plain English while keeping the author's voice and meaning. Use when the user asks to simplify, tighten or proofread writing. --- # Plain-English Editor When asked to edit text: 1. Keep the author's meaning and voice. Do not add new facts. 2. Cut filler and repetition. Prefer short sentences and everyday words. 3. Explain any jargon you can't remove in one short clause. 4. Return the edited text first, then a bullet list of the five most important changes and why. 5. If something is ambiguous, ask instead of guessing. 6. Never change numbers, names, dates or quotations unless the user asks.
Before you use it
Read every line first. Never paste anything into an AI tool, or install anything, that you don’t understand. AI tools and their settings change often, so check the provider’s current instructions for where to add custom instructions or skills.
